Key points in the distribution of the Australian immigration quota for the 2020-2021 fiscal year include:

  • Business Innovation (Visa 188A) is a priority.
  • 15,000 quota for Visa Global Talent (Global Talent Independent).
  • 13,500 quota for Business Innovation and Investment (BIIP) program. At the same time, the government will reclassify and change investment categories to optimize the inflow of foreign investment into Australian small businesses and venture capital funds.
  • The immigration quota for family reunification increased significantly from 47,732 to 77,300. Of these, 72,300 quotas for marriage and English language requirements are compulsory for applicants and sponsors to ensure immigrants quickly integrate and contribute to the community.
  • The remaining skilled immigration quota cuts around 54,000 quota. The trend of highly skilled migration continues to give preference to encouraged areas.
  • The government will also provide visa application fee refunds (VAC), visa exemption or extension for those who hold a visa but are unable to come to Australia due to Covid-19.
  • 13,750 quotas for the Humanitarian Program. The government will continue to invest AMEPs, developing a reform program for settlement services and a Community Protection Program.
